Showing the origins, destinations and dispersal of Outer Hebrides emigrants between 1750 - 1900. The outflows were either voluntary, or as a result of the Highland Clearances, or the potato famine. Approximately 20,000 emigrants who left the islands during that period have been identified; 4,700 ex-Lewis, 2,600 ex-Harris, 3,300 ex-N.Uist, 5,700 ex-S.Uist, and 2,900 ex-Barra.
